Recently, from just a simple inquiry about ponies available for a party, I bit the hook. Sure. I have ponies and I was thinking about doing pony parties...so I'll throw my hat into the ring.
I have three lovely ponies. Two are still quite young at two years old, and the other is four. I am a good cook and fairly good baker, I have a creative bend and a little time to spend having potentially a lot of fun, so I set out to create a a flying unicorn!
Not wanting children to be sitting onto the ponies' back for fear of complaints of horsehair and dander (allergies?), I made a 'saddle', a simple covered saddle pad with a handle and a short dressage girth and two belts I altered after recycling them from our local Goodwill. I had the thought of discouraging pony rides as with twenty-something kids, I didn't want to spend the two hours walking him on the pavement or grass with parents in tow. Doing this kind of thing required much forethought!
So Charles and I set out one Friday to several craft stores to scan for ideas and buy materials. Then to the grocery store for cake ingredients that I didn't have already in the pantry. Total spent was a little less than $150 because I had quite a bit of materials at home as well.
(to be continued...)
